We are outraged by the news from the FDA today of the delay of the EUA for the Pfizer COVID vaccine for children under 5. We need to keep the pressure on the FDA to provide solutions to protect our youngest. We have suggested language for these messages. Please add your own personal reasons for wanting vaccines for kids.

I am writing to express my outrage about today’s decision to once again withhold vaccine access and a means to protect our children.
Today’s announcement is a travesty for millions of families and children across the country. mRNA vaccines have been proven to be safe for children, and withholding them during the pandemic is unconscionable. How many more child deaths, neurological effects, and lifelong complications will the FDA be willing to accept as they deny millions of children a safe form of protection from a virus that has ravaged our communities and families for almost two years?
It has come to a point where your inaction has made you liable for damage done to children across the country. Every hospitalization, medical complication, death and case of MIS-C that occurs in a child under 5, due to COVID-19 at this point in the pandemic is a travesty that could have been prevented, and we are holding you responsible for this.
We call upon you today to find an immediate and viable pathway to vaccinate our children now, especially as mitigation measures are being rolled back across the country. Children cannot continue being the collateral damage of a failed health system. You owe us a path forward. The next generation does not deserve to pay for your inaction. How will you do good on your ethical obligation to offer protection to our youngest who do not have a political voice?

The FDA’s decision to delay the Pfizer submission for children under 5 is a travesty for millions of families and children across the country. mRNA vaccines have been proven to be safe for children, and withholding them during the pandemic is unconscionable. How many more child deaths, neurological effects, and lifelong complications will the FDA be willing to accept as they deny millions of children a safe form of protection from a virus that has ravaged our communities and families for almost two years?
It has come to a point where the FDA and other health leaders’ inaction has made them liable for damage done to children across the country. Every hospitalization, medical complication, death and case of MIS-C that occurs in a child under 5, due to COVID-19 at this point in the pandemic is a travesty that could have been prevented, and we must hold the FDA and other health officials accountable.
I ask you to hold the FDA accountable immediately. In order to maintain public trust in our health system, we must have access to the data and evaluation process for trials for Covid vaccines. Millions of parents and physicians deserve to know why young children still don’t have access to vaccines, even when they have been proven to be safe and effective. We currently have two safe mRNA vaccines, and yet, none of our leaders can offer transparency on data and the reasoning behind consistent delays. Our leaders must also explain why they are unwilling to cut bureaucratic tape that would allow access to our children.
You have the ability to help bring these questions to light. Please do everything in your power for a full and thorough investigation. Children cannot continue being the collateral damage of a failed health system.
